Možnost prestavitve vzleta |
|
18.04.2013 |
|

FUEL IN NWTCANADA |
|
13.04.2013 |
|
Getting the fuel in remote places of the world is always a problem. Even in Canada, Northwest Territories and Nunavut there's no exceptions. Therefore, taking care of this was a priority concern while planning the flight. Resolute Bay is the first planned landing in Canada after overflying the North Pole but there is no Canada Customs or Avgas available . Aziz Kheray – Ozzie, who is personifying this little town due to his engagement in all buissness there, confirmed to me that he found some fuel somewhere, but it is at least 5 years old. Although I was advised by everyone knowing something about Avgas not to use fuel that is so old , it seemed I would have to, as there is no other choice. But yesterday I was amazed by almost impossible news that came from Yellowknife: in Resolute there is already one 200 L barrel of Avgas 100LL waiting for me to be transferred to my Virus plane. The man behind this is again (like at several other flights before) my fellow Slovenian pilot from Yellowknife, Samo Cebul, who also flies at First Air. He made a visit to Buffalo Joe (owner and president of Buffalo Airways , well known aroud the world from the TV serial Ice Pilots NWT– History Chanell http://www.icepilots.com/, http://www.buffaloairways.com/ His company is still flying vintage WW2 planes like DC - 3, C 46 Commando and DC-4 in the Canadian Arctic Buffalo Joe - McBryan, the legendary arctic pilot donated a barrel of Avgas for free, which was then flown by First Air http://www.firstair.ca/about/ with their big L382 Hercules to Resolute Bay. One enormous concern less. J
Guys, a huge thank s to you all! |

FIREPROOF CLOTHING |
|
28.03.2013 |
|
Daniela Zavec Pavlinic, PhD is a leading researcer in developing refractory products that are designed for protection from heat and flame. The base of such development is working close with end users to define the priority requirements of this special clothing.
Daniela's development activities primarly relates her to the partners like Prevent Deloza Ltd. from Celje, Slovenia, and Lenzing from Austria; making her a branding partner for Lenzing FR brand, one of the largest textile companies in Europe.
Joint cooperation resulted in development of a fireproof clothing for the environment in which Matevz Lenarcic will be exposed in April and May 2013.
Aflight across the North Pole is also a similiar environment. In collaboration with the above mentioned partners,dr. Daniela Zavec Pavlinic was initiated to support Matevz's mission to produce a fireproof clothing system for the flight over the North Pole.
The mentioned clothing system provides protection against heat and flame, while at the same time providing comfort through the properties of cellulose fibers. The company Lenzing from Austria is supporting the mission with fire resistant material (Lenzing FR), while the clothing was made in Slovenia (Prevent Deloza, Titera). In this specialy designed clothing system we wish to Matevz a "comfortable" and "safe" travel on his mission.
