ANOTHER BRILLIANT DAY OF FLYING!
17.01.2012

As we heard from our pilot, the beginning of the 6th stage was quite bad regarding weather and he had to fly high and up to get through.

But the second part was amazing, and really rewarding concerning photography.  There was a little detour to Miami due to custom control. He tried to avoid this, however, the custom was stronger and insisted but after all they finished really soon and there was no problem at all.

Tomorrow is a day off; time for rotax service, for rest and to up-date you with stunning photos of the 6th stage.

Wishing you an amazing day!

yours,

GLWF team

TOWARDS SEBRING/FLORIDA
17.01.2012

After thoughtful decision Matevž decided to left rainy Cayenne in French Guajane yesterday and started his 5th stage across Carebean sea, Virgin Island towards San Juan in Puerto Rico. After 8h and 40 minutes he successfully landed in Puerto Rico and therefore finished his 5th stage of round the world flight! Bravo Matevž!

Not much rest for today! The take off is planned for 12. 00 UTC, and after 1963 km and about 8 hours of flying we should expect him in Sebring, Florida. Tomorrow is also the day for service of airplane and additional rest.

Wishing him a safe flight and wise decisions!

AGAIN IN THE AIR
16.01.2012

After careful analysis of the weather and flight plan for today, especially taking into account all possible special situations, Matevz decided for take off. The flight is about 10 hours long and the flying distance to Puerto Rico is 2431 km.He is back in the air. Let good winds guide him. Good luck Matevž!

Flight to Puerto Rico postoponed to Jan 16th
15.01.2012

The flight planned for today is postponed on Monday, 16th January.  It is still raining hard.  The other reason for postponing is due to the length of flight, which is again around 10 hours long. Starting so late in the day today wouldn’t made it possible to arrive in time to Puerto Rico, where they close the airport at 10 pm and there is no custom available anymore.  Matevž will carefully check the plane in the meantime. We will be back here again tomorrow! Wishing you a nice Sunday!

SUCCESSFUL TOUCH-DOWN AT CAYENNE IN FRENCH GUIANA
14.01.2012

Dear friends of Green Light World Flight!
We are again delighted to let you know that Matevž has successful »touch-down« at Cayenne in French Guiana and therewith successfully finished the 4th stage of round the world flight. It was again very demanding flight with stormy weather; especially the last three and a half hours were extremely difficult due to heavy rain and storms. Matevž is ok, his wisdom and many many long-flying experience through the years led him choose the right decision and although regretting very very much for safety reason he avoided flying over mouth of Amazon River. But we are all glad that he is ok, now already safe at the Hotel and most likely already asleep.
Tomorrow the flight will be like planned. Starting in the morning at 9:00 UTC he is flying from Cayenne to PuertoRico. Again, this is going to be very long flight, similar to the one he had today. We are all just praying that no more storms will cross his flight. With good wind he might be in Puerto Rico at 18:40 UTC. Let's wish him good rest and see you again here tomorrow to track Matevž live.

AFTER A DAY OF REST – TIME FOR NEW VENTURES
13.01.2012

Tomorrow begins a new stage of flying around the world – 4th in turn. Matevz will again fly by land, but despite this fact the flight will not be easy. He will fly along the east coast to French Guiana, stormy weather is expected and 10 hours of continuous flight, because of that exceptional durability and excellent mental preparation is needed.

Departure from the airport Natal (Brazil) in the morning at 07:30 UTC in a nortwesterly direction towards the city of Cayenne (French Guiana). Landing is scheduled at 17:25 UTC at Rochambeau airport  (ICAO code »SOCA«).  The planned route is 1,265 NM long, which requires 190 liters of fuel and reserve.
