Z Matevžem sva pravkar govorila ko je bil na holdingu pred startom. Sedaj že leti, v Manzanillu bo čez predvidoma 8 ur. Z letalom je vse v redu, čeprav se je bal da se je nekje na motorju pojavila kapljica olja. Storm scope, instrument, ki kaže prisotnost neviht še vedno ne dela. Bomo poizkusili urediti prvi dan brez letenja. Srečno Matevž!

Looks like Matevz will start. // Aha nekaj se dogaja - verjetno bo vzlet. Nevihte v okolici, dve vremenski motnji na poti (kaze bolj na visoko oblacnost), skratka Matevza vreme ne bo pustilo "na cedilu" - bolj skozi cedilo :)

Zares maratonske etape in to iz dneva v dan, NORO. Škoda samo, da na zemljevidu niso prikazane vse etape, ki jih je že preletel. Mogoče to lahko popravite!? Čestitke Matevž in veliko sreče med oblaki!

Hi Matevz, Thanks for your detailed report. One sometimes forget that winter is winter also in the Southern states of the US, with very strong winds. I did really wonder whether it was headwind or some error of the system when I followed you and saw speeds down to and even below 100 knots, I can imagine it must have been frustrating. However you made it all in fine style so congratulations, best wishes for your next flight and Huuuurra .....

Čestitke Matevž, to je bilo res veliko garanje, fizično in psihično. Razen zelo slabe, hitrost čelni veter in posledično turbolenca je to tudi vzdržljivostni test. Verjetno te fotografiranje toliko sprosti, da to prenašaš. Sedaj občudujem tudi cel tvoj projekt, moral si boš vzeti več odmorov med etapami. Za spremljanje po računalniku je lažje in čestitke tudi spremljevalni ekipi, ki lepo sodeluje tudi z vse zanimivejšimi podatki. Srečno še naprej.

I do not know how is it to fly for endless hours into such a terrible head wind and turbulance, but you managed it proving an exquisite manner! Once again congratulations to you Matevž, and to the whole GLWF team!

Two longer than expected days over southern USA. After pleasant stay in Sebring, Florida with company of Pipistrel guys, Michael Coates from Australia and Shelly, Dan and Dale from US who will attend Airshow which starts tomorrow, I took off in cristal blue sky headed north. It is winter so the colours are not as I would like. The landscape is rather monotonous. Headwinds keep my spirit down. Airspace around New Orleans is full of danger, military, or prohibitet zones so I just ask for FlightFollowing to get instructions around. The weaher changed rom bright sunny into gray and rainy. The visibility was worsened and the flying was all but nice. Tops of high anennas were hidden in the clouds so I have to trust Garmin database. It was also very turbulent, so no autopilot help. when the clouds became brighter I just climbed through and proceeded on top. Original plan to land at Canyon Lake I changed due to fuel and possible bad weather in the morning. So decided for San Marcos, just ten minutes short of Canyon Lake. It turned to be right decission, as I got extremely fast, clean and friendly support from Redbird Skyport. Virus got free hangaring. The morning was murky, fogy, so I filled IFR flight plan. On 2500 ft I popped out of the clouds and headed right where directed by Austin deparure. After canceling IFR, life got better with some stunning views. Canyon Lake was hidden under the clouds but short after they disappeared. Head wind was just terrible, some times ground speed dropped to only 75 kts. So 60-70 kts. Just before El Paso is the highest ridge where I found strong mountain waves with huge down and updrafts. Afte received sms from Domen about lower winds at low level I decended but turulence made flying even slower so I decided to climb back to Fl 085 and remained there for the rest of the flight. At sunset landed at Calexico airport jut beside Mexican border, got fuel and custom clearance for next day. The adventure continues into Mexico. Huuuura.

It is not an easy day for our pilot today. He is fighting against hard wind which is constantly blowing about 40 knts. The turbulence does't stop either, which means he must be flying mostly manually. But, how would you like if we share some thoughts of our pilot taken from his book: “About the only world”? "Even from a height of 100 meters, the world seems different. Interestingly, the border between the countries doesn’t seem to be visible anymore. The boundaries were created by man mostly because of his darkest motives for power and wealth. It's hard to imagine that within these borders people think differently than outside them. Some cling to their identity, their culture, their view on the world, their religion, and doing this so hard might bring them to hate those outside these frameworks. The world within the boundaries are organized according to their own people however they keep forgetting that the mixing of air masses in the atmosphere is not aware of any boundaries; the rain from the clouds is not just theirs, even though all citizens of the world use the same sun, it doesn’t hear them all at the same time. However, the rules of air traffic in the airspace of each country vary widely. Flying in Slovenia is not the same as flying in Mongolia, Russia or America, despite the fact that the same laws of physics keep aircraft in the air. " This time we also want to share some photos from the fligth from Florida to Texas. Let us Matevz’s view on that part of the world help to expand our hearts and appreciate the beauty within us and around.

Prav nič ni lahek dan za našega pilota danes. Z vetrom se bori že praktično celo pot, ves čas mu piha v nos s hitrostjo 40 vozljev. Tudi turbulenca mu nič ne prizanese, kar pomeni, da mora leteti pretežno manualno, torej brez avtopilota. Naj tokrat podelimo z vami nekaj misli našega pilota, ponovno iz njegove prve monografije: Okoli edinega sveta. "Že z višine 100 metrov je svet drugačen. Zanimivo, meje med državami sploh ni opaziti. Ustvaril jih je človek zaradi svojih najtemnejših nagibov po oblasti in bogastvu. Težko si je predstavljati, da znotraj teh meja ljudje razmišljajo drugače kot zunaj njih. Oklepajo se svoje identitete, svoje kulture, svojega pogleda na svet, svojega verovanja, ki pa jih lahko pripelje tudi tako daleč, da sovražijo tiste zunaj teh okvirov. Svet znotraj meja ljudje uredijo po svoje in pri tem pozabljajo, da mešanje zračnih mas v atmosferi ne pozna meja, da dež iz oblakov ni samo njihov, da vsi prebivalci sveta uporabljamo isto sonce, le da ne greje vseh naenkrat. Kljub temu so pravila zračnega letenja v zračnem prostoru posameznih držav zelo različna. Letenje v Sloveniji ni enako letenju v Mongoliji, Rusiji ali Ameriki, kljub temu, da enaki fizikalni zakoni ohranjajo letalo v zraku."
